(2) Volontaire en Afrique - Suivi de La Faune Sauvage

(2) Volontaire en Afrique - Suivi de La Faune Sauvage

After my three years in South Africa, where I was involved in several conservation programmes, I can now say that some of them really contribute to conservation, others take advantage in order to make money by creating projects which have no purpose, such as the breeding of the lions in captivity or quite different animals which could be protected. Other than in captivity, it is what makes the difference. Thank you Wildlife Act for working for real conservation. Thanks to all the monitors, Mégane, Antoine, Marumo, Philippe, for getting across your passion and your great knowledge. Special thanks to Clinton, my main monitor, who put up with me for two years at Tembe. Thank you for your patience, your explanations, your professionalism. Thank you for teaching me the behaviour of wild dogs, lions, for introducing me to the real conservation of animals in their natural environment and for accepting my presence over this long period. Thank you also to Leonard, known as Elephant Man who, in spite of the fact that I did not go on his drives, never failed to answer the questions that l put him about his favourite animal - the elephant - and always with a smile. It's a part of my life which I shall never forget. Thank you to all the Wildlife Act team for allowing me to realize my dream of living on a game reserve long-term and participating in real conservation.
